my favorite all-purpose spray

As I began this journey of 'going green' or really just being aware of what was in all the products I was using, I came across a fantastic set of books.  The first book, Gorgeously Green by Sophi Uliano is about the steps you can take to make your life more green.  The second book, Do It Gorgeously, is all about the recipes to make your own..well, make your own everything!  The third book, The Gorgeously Green Diet helps on the food side of things.  You will definitely want to check our her website at Gorgeously Green.

And while I'm guilty of owning all three, my absolute favorite is Do It Gorgeously.  I'd like to share a recipe out of her book that is my all-time favorite natural disinfectant all purpose spray!  A safe way to clean and be naturally disinfect.

All-Purpose Spray
You will need:

1 tsp borax
1/2 tsp washing soda crystals
2 tbsp white vinegar
1/2 tsp liquid castile soap
2 cups very hot, distilled water
20 drops tea tree essential oil
1 24-oz sprayer

Mix borax, washing soda, vinegar, and castile soap in a large measuring cup. Slowly add hot water just off the boil.  Allow mixture to cool prior to adding the tea tree oil.  Pour into sprayer, and clean away!

Did you know that tea tree essential oil is a natural antibacterial? Also, if you are looking for scents..I have tried a few of the scented castile soaps. I LOVE the peppermint for my kitchen, lavender works great for bathrooms or kitchens, and citrus adds a nice element as well.  But experiment and make it your own! And-go order Sophie's books!
